We are so excited to announce that we received an invitation from MCC this week, inviting us to join their team in Laos… and we accepted! We will be based in the small, rural, mountainous community of Tha Thom, Laos. Jeffrey working as a Community Health promotion position focusing on improving nutrition in the area. Kaarina will focus more on improving health and nutrition through sustainable agriculture, demonstration gardens and some organic rice production. We are now planning on a July orientation in Akron, PA and departure as soon thereafter (depending on how soon we get our visas). It is a burst of activity as we rewrite resumes, get copies of important documents and try to realize that, “Yes! We are going overseas!” We are very excited as we move into this new season from these past few months of waiting on the Lord.

ReplyDeleteI remember so well the day in October of 1985 when we got on a plane to leave for our missionary experience. Despite being confident of God's call, I was quite nervous and found the transition a little bit bumpy. You will be in my prayers over the coming weeks. I'll pray that you will be aware of God's presence, comfort and the provision of wisdom and discernment from the Holy Spirit. On good days and bad days, living in the will of God is exciting and rewarding. Marti
